Open Space is an Asset – Please Help Us Find It!

Hey you lovers of parks and open space!

Groundswell NW is developing the Ballard Open Space Plan. This plan will drive open space planning for many years to come. It is absolutely critical that it be as complete as possible!

We really need your help. We are asking you to do two things for us:

1. Fill out this survey about open space in the Ballard District. We really want to know what you think. It’ll just take a few minutes. http://ballardopenspaceplan.org/survey

2. Help walk you neighborhood to inventory both existing and potential open space. No one knows your neighborhood like you do. Use a smartphone app to add items to the Ballard Open Space Plan. http://ballardopenspaceplan.org/help-us-discover-open-space/smartphone-app/ Anyone and everyone is asked to help. No special skills are needed. See a vacant lot, extra wide planting strip, right of way, or anything else that could become open space to share – add it to the inventory!

Here’s what we have so far.  Notice how many neighborhoods (and perhaps yours) have yet to be inventoried. The clumps of trees are new inventory items.  The orange circles are items from the 1996 inventory.
